FF X WildWay Bushcraft Carving Bib
A collaboration between Forest Fundamentals and WildWay Bushcraft, one of the UK’s leading bushcraft schools. The aim was to create a carving bib that provides cushioning and protection, while also offering accessible storage for tools, pencils, and carving templates. Increased Size: The bib is slightly oversized to allow work to be positioned comfortably across the chest when using different cuts — such as the chest lever and chicken grip. The larger size also provides good coverage when resting work on your leg. Extra Protection: The carving bib is handmade from two layers of 2 mm genuine cowhide leather, adding cushioning and helping protect against knife slips. Materials: The leather is waxed to add an extra layer of protection against water and general wear. All edges are stitched with reinforced cotton thread. Pencil Slot: The front of the bib includes an oversized pencil slot that fits both standard and larger carpenter’s pencils. It’s open on both sides, making it easy to grab from either side when marking templates or sketching patterns. Storage Inside the Bib: The stitching runs only partway down the sides of the bib, leaving space between the two layers of leather. This creates a pocket for storing carving templates or small tools. The openings are wide enough to allow easy access, even when wearing gloves. Neck Strap: The bib is suspended from a doubled-over length of 550 paracord used as a neck strap. A fisherman’s knot allows the height to be easily adjusted to suit the wearer. Material Sourcing: The leather used in our products is a by-product of the meat industry and is processed in regulated tanneries with controlled chemical use and proper waste treatment.
