Presenting this Universal Genève Gilt Shadow, housed in a distinctive golden cushion shaped case and featuring a clean, time-only two-hand configuration. This particular reference has become increasingly difficult to source, especially in this rather uncommon applied Roman numeral dial variant. The raised numerals add a wonderful sense of depth and dimension, lending the otherwise understated dial an extra layer of sophistication and elegance. Beneath the slim profile lies one of the thinnest automatic movements of its era. Upon its introduction in 1972, the calibre measured an astonishingly thin 2.5mm, making it the world’s thinnest automatic movement at the time, a record later surpassed only in 2003 by the Piaget Calibre 71, which came in marginally slimmer at 2.4mm.
