MIKE D - THANK YOU (CLEAR COLOURED) VINYL

Mike D's Thank You arrives as his first full-length solo album and, notably, the first full album of new music from a Beastie Boys alumnus since 2011. The record grew out of relaxed, experimental sessions in Mike D's home studio, and that origin shows: these twelve tracks lean into post-electronic grooves, playful beat construction, and hooks that feel exploratory rather than overworked. What makes Thank You especially appealing is the way it sidesteps easy genre labels without losing momentum. Source material consistently points to Mike D's unmistakable voice as the anchor, guiding songs that move between concise pop-minded structures and more open, collage-like arrangements. Early sessions involved his sons Skyler and Davis, and the wider cast reportedly includes Carter Lang, Jared Solomon, Ging, Jason Lader, Eddie Ruscha, and Tyran Donaldson, with mixing by Derek "MixedByAli" Ali and mastering by Nicolas de Porcel. Tracks such as Switch Up, What We Got, and True Colors suggest the album's range well, but the larger appeal is hearing Mike D open a new chapter that still carries the curiosity and left-field energy listeners associate with his past work. For anyone wondering what a Beastie Boy solo debut sounds like in 2026, this is a genuinely intriguing answer.
