Handmade Sterling Silver Blue Lace Agate Statement Ring – 52 Ring Project A bold and substantial handmade sterling silver statement ring featuring a beautiful blue lace agate set within a large open claw setting. This is quite the ring. It starts with a heavy-duty 4mm D-section sterling silver band, finished with a bright polish, giving it a solid, substantial feel on the finger. Sitting above the band is a huge open claw setting which gives the ring its dramatic height and presence. And then there is the stone. The blue lace agate is much quieter than the setting that surrounds it, with soft blue and delicate natural markings. Rather than competing with the size of the ring, its understated colouring brings an elegance and calmness to the design. I love the tension between the two: a seriously chunky piece of silver paired with a gentle, almost ethereal stone. This ring is part of my 52 Ring Project, a year-long exploration using gemstones that had been waiting in my collection. Each ring gives me the opportunity to experiment with design, construction and stone setting, and together they have become an important part of the development of my work. This is a one-off ring, handmade by me in my Dorset workshop using traditional silversmithing techniques and recycled sterling silver.
