1940s Swedish : pair of solid oakwood paddle armchairs w/kilim upholstery
A wonderfully architectural Danish armchair, c. 1940, constructed in solid oak with broad paddle-form arms, an exposed stretchered frame and upholstered seat and back. Its construction belongs to the transitional period of Danish furniture design when traditional cabinetmaking forms were being reduced to increasingly spare, modern lines - a vocabulary associated with the generation of Kaare Klint and the designers who followed him. Later upholstered in a graphic woven kilim textile. Sold as a pair.
