A monitor (ORP-3000, PH-2200, CD-4000) displays your parameter continuously but takes no action. A controller (ORP-3010, PH-2020, PH-2310, CD-4010, MX-1037) displays it AND switches your equipment on and off to hold your set-point automatically. Q What's the difference between -L and -H controller variants? -L variants drop pH — they switch CO2 equipment on when pH rises above set-point, for planted tanks, calcium reactors and freshwater. -H variants raise pH — they switch buffer/dosing equipment on when pH falls below set-point, for marine and reef systems. Q Can the MX-1037 run my TI-TEX heater? Yes — any model. The MX-1037's 16A relay runs every TI-TEX titanium element from the 25W right up to the 3000W. One controller covers the full range.
