Nepenthes – Tootles

Nepenthes ‘Tootles’ – Big Pitchers, Big Personality Nepenthes ‘Tootles’ is a vigorous hybrid involving N. spathulata, N. chaniana and N. veitchii, and it has a reputation for becoming a seriously substantial plant. As it matures, it produces large pitchers and can develop into a long trailing vine if allowed to climb and ramble. The pitchers are predominantly green when young, with beautifully curved peristomes that deepen toward an intense dark red as they age. That contrast gives mature pitchers a wonderfully dramatic look without being overly flashy. ‘Tootles’ is also considered a vigorous and adaptable grower, making it a great choice if you want a Nepenthes that delivers impressive size without being quite as temperamental as some of the fussier species. Give it bright, diffused light, good humidity and airy, well-drained media, and it should reward you with increasingly impressive pitchers as it settles in. This plant is classified as an INTERMEDIATE hybrid.
