WAYST Pendant 02

WAYST — Pendant 02 WAYST Pendant 02 continues the work begun with Pendant 01: taking what a building leaves behind and giving it a second light. Where the first pendant took its proportions from a brick, the second reduces the form further — a simple cone, cast from brick and tile rubble reclaimed from demolition sites across KwaZulu-Natal and pigmented in a deep maroon oxide. The fragments are ground back after casting so every piece of aggregate stays visible, and the light falls downward in a clean, focused pool beneath the shade. As both a lighting piece and a material study, Pendant 02 carries the ethos of WAYST — reframing waste as raw potential, where the marks of making are not concealed but kept as part of the final form. Each pendant is cast and finished by hand in our Howick studio. Variations in aggregate and colour are a natural part of the process — no two are the same.
