The Combat B74 GMT is part of Lum-Tec's Combat B series, the field watch line Lum-Tec has kept refining since the first Combat B1 arrived in 2007. Lum-Tec says Combat B watches have been battle tested in real military applications and in environments from deserts to freezing mountaintops, and that they are trusted by pilots, ground soldiers, snipers and mountain climbers. Lum-Tec says the Combat B is comfortable on the wrist, legible and accurate, and that its anti-shock capability is well proven in the field. The B74 GMT shrinks the Combat B to 39 mm and adds a true GMT. Its Japanese Miyota 9075 is a slim automatic with a jumping local hour hand that can be set on its own for quick time-zone changes, plus hacking seconds, hand winding and a 28,800 beats-per-hour rate, viewed through an exhibition caseback. The forged, heat-treated case measures 13.8 mm thick and 46 mm lug to lug with 20 mm lugs, and the 3-layer dial and back-filled hands use X1-grade C3 Super-Luminova as part of Lum-Tec's MDV® luminous technology. It is rated to 200 meters, comes with black and desert tan nylon straps, and is limited to 500 pieces. As an authorized Lum-Tec dealer, The CGA Company sells the B74 new, never pre-owned, with free USA shipping. It comes with black and desert tan nylon straps, and it is a limited, numbered series of 500 worldwide. Lum-Tec says forging gives about 37% more fatigue strength than a typical cast case, and the bead-blast finish creates a micro work-hardened surface that improves scratch and ding resistance by 8-10%. An anti-fingerprint layer then seals the satin surface. A domed, Hytrel-mounted sapphire with inner AR coating covers the 3-layer dial, and a sapphire exhibition caseback shows the Miyota 9075. Silicone-lubricated double seals protect the crown, and Lum-Tec says Combat B sealing is tested to 30% beyond the 200 m rating. Heat treatment does two jobs on this case: it keeps the steel stable while it is being forged and hardens the surface once finishing is done. The glare-cutting layer on the inside of the sapphire is a military-grade DLC anti-reflective coating. The case seals are there to stand up to salt water, chemicals and very hot or very cold conditions, not just water pressure, and if the watch is dropped on a hard floor or knocked against a wall, the anti-shock mount lets the movement absorb the hit.Fit and Straps The B74 is 39 mm wide, 46 mm lug to lug and has 20 mm lugs. Its lugs curve down steeply, and Lum-Tec says its effective wrist span is close to a 41-42 mm lug-to-lug case, and that its downward-curving lugs are designed to fit comfortably on smaller wrists. It comes with two nylon military-style straps, black and desert tan, with hardened titanium carbide hardware. Each strap passes under both spring bars, so the watch stays on your wrist even if one spring bar fails. Lum-Tec says its nylon straps are more durable than typical straps of this type and are designed for easy adjustment, a secure fit and minimal weight on the wrist.MDV® Lume The dial uses Lum-Tec's MDV® luminous technology with Swiss X1-grade C3 Super-Luminova, printed in more than 30 layers over a reflective base so the light is directed out through the crystal. The diamond-cut hands are back-filled with X1 C3. Lum-Tec says RC Tritec in Switzerland verified its dials as top Super-Luminova performers. Lifetime Service The B74 is an automatic, so Lum-Tec's lifetime coverage is free timing adjustment, seal cleaning and lubrication, and pressure testing, all done in Ohio. Lum-Tec says it regularly sees its watches come back for service after 15 or more years of use, and it puts what it learns from them into new designs. Lifetime services are provided by Lum-Tec under Lum-Tec's terms, not by The CGA Company; for service, contact service@lum-tec.com. Hand Assembled and Tested in Mentor, Ohio Lum-Tec says its watches are designed and engineered in Ohio from the ground up, and every Combat B74 GMT is hand assembled and individually tested in Mentor, Ohio, using international and domestic components; the movement in this model is the Japanese Miyota 9075 automatic GMT. After assembly, the movement's timing is adjusted in six positions. Lum-Tec says that since 2007 it has produced watches for more than 100 brands around the world, the U.S. government and SWAT teams. Frequently Asked Questions Is the B74 a true GMT? Yes. The Miyota 9075 lets you jump the local hour hand on its own, so a time-zone change leaves the minute hand and the GMT reference untouched. How big is it compared with other Combat B models? It is 39 mm wide, 13.8 mm thick and 46 mm lug to lug, with 20 mm lugs. The 43 mm Combat B models such as the B69 measure 51.5 mm lug to lug. Can I see the movement? Yes. It has an exhibition caseback with a sapphire window. Which straps come with it? Two 20 mm nylon military-style straps, one black and one desert tan, with hardened titanium carbide hardware. Where is the Combat B74 GMT assembled? Lum-Tec hand assembles and tests every Combat B74 GMT in Mentor, Ohio, using international and domestic components. The movement is the Japanese Miyota 9075 automatic GMT. Its timing is adjusted in six positions after assembly.
