Royal Opera House, Muscat

I was fortunate to see the construction of the Royal Opera House Muscat when it was being built and even more blessed to have the opportunity to see an opera there in 2018. Finished in locally-sourced pinkish-white Omani desert limestone and complementary stucco the Opera House in Muscat follows regional guidelines for monochromatic, low-rise stone structures. Seeing it daylight is equally impressive with its monumental arched entryways, traditional colonnades, terraces, and sculptural tower forms inspired by modern Omani palaces.
