Maya 5 series | By Romicon Revola | Sculptures

Maya 5 is an original mixed media sculpture by Indian contemporary artist Romicon Revola. Measuring 20 × 12 × 12 inches, the work takes the form of an abstracted human head on an elongated cylindrical neck. The surface is divided into two distinct tonal halves — one side in a polished copper-bronze and the other in a matte teal-green — with fine linear hair markings etched into the dark upper crown. Multiple small brass butterfly elements are attached across the surface in varying sizes and tones. Viewed from the front, the face is seen in three-quarter or profile orientation with closed eyes. From one angle, the work presents as a fully abstract concentric spiral form in copper and dark tones — a distinctly different visual reading from the figurative face visible from other viewpoints.
