🌼🐴 Dia de Caballo – Family Painting Workshop at The Horse Trust 🐴🌼 A Colourful Day of the Dead Inspired Horse Painting Workshop 📅 Sunday 4th October 🕥 10:30am (Please arrive from 10:15am) 📍 The Horse Trust, Speen, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 0PP Get ready for bold colours, beautiful patterns and one seriously fabulous horse! 🌼🐴🎨 Join Toni from Easely Does It at the wonderful Horse Trust for a colourful family painting workshop where we’ll be creating Dia de Caballo – our vibrant horse painting inspired by the decorative art and imagery associated with Mexico’s Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations. With a striking turquoise horse, sweeping mane, beautiful decorative patterns and huge orange flowers set against a dramatic dark background, this is a painting that’s absolutely packed with colour. And despite all those fabulous details, you don’t need to be an experienced painter to create it! We’ll break the whole painting down into simple stages and work through it together, leaving plenty of room for everyone to choose their own colours, patterns and decorations. 🎨 Paint Your Own Dia de Caballo Working with acrylic paints on a stretched canvas, we’ll build our horse up gradually before having lots of fun with the decorative details. During the workshop, you’ll learn how to: 🐴 Create the shape of your horse using simple outlines 🎨 Build up bold blocks of colour 🌼 Paint bright, stylised flowers 🖌️ Create a flowing, colourful mane ✨ Add swirls, dots, petals and decorative patterns 💀 Create the distinctive decorated face 🌈 Use contrasting colours to make your painting really pop 🖤 Bring everything together against the dramatic dark background We’ll demonstrate each stage before you have a go, so there’s no pressure to race ahead or worry about getting everything exactly the same. 🌈 The More Colour, the Better! This is one of those paintings where you can really let your imagination loose. Our Dia de Caballo uses a gorgeous combination of turquoise, orange, red, yellow and white against a deep black background, but yours certainly doesn’t have to. Perhaps your horse will be hot pink, purple or electric blue. Change the flowers, invent your own patterns, add hearts and swirls or completely redesign the mane. We’ll give you the starting point – where you take it is entirely up to you! That’s what makes this such a fun painting for families: everyone can follow the same instructions and still go home with something completely different. 🌼 Inspired by Día de los Muertos The colourful inspiration for this painting comes from Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a Mexican tradition that honours and remembers loved ones who have died. Rather than being simply a spooky Halloween theme, Día de los Muertos is known for its vibrant colours, flowers, decorated skull imagery and joyful celebration of memory. Our family sessions are relaxed, friendly and designed to be accessible to beginners. And grown-ups don’t have to sit and watch!
