A full year of media in one delivery, sized for your filter. Mechanical floss traps fine debris. Coarse foam does the heavy lifting and holds your bacteria colony. Activated carbon strips discolouration and odour. Run all three and the filter does what it was designed to do. Important — do not change all your media on the same day The foam and bio media in your filter hold the bacteria colony that keeps your water safe. It takes weeks to establish and minutes to throw away. Replace it all in one go and your tank effectively starts from scratch — ammonia and nitrite climb, and your fish are the ones that suffer. Change it in stages: Swap no more than half your foam or bio media at a time Leave 2 to 4 weeks between changes so the new media can colonise Rinse anything you are keeping in tank water only — chlorine from the tap kills bacteria on contact Floss and carbon are the exception.
