Scrooge McDuck has long been one of popular culture’s most recognizable symbols of wealth. In Kossi’s work, however, his familiar relationship with money becomes the starting point for a broader conversation about what wealth can represent once accumulation itself is no longer the ultimate goal. Set within the visual language of a Forbes-inspired cover, Scrooge appears not simply as the billionaire surrounded by money, but as a figure associated with ownership, investment and long-term thinking. The imagery reflects a shift from immediate success toward something more enduring: What do we build with what we have achieved — and what remains after us? Capital becomes more than money. It can create independence, acquire assets, protect freedom and shape the future. With that comes another dimension of wealth: legacy. The work continues Kossi’s long-standing exploration of money and success while moving the conversation forward. The symbols remain recognizable, but their meaning changes as our own ideas of wealth, value and achievement evolve. The symbol is familiar, but the meaning around him continues to change. Forbes Scrooge marks this transition, from making money to considering what that money can ultimately make possible.
