Split60 Prototypes

Over the years, I've acquired a number of prototypes for the Split60 whilst it was in development. Sometimes to test a new manufacturer or a new design. These are the prototype units that were made. They are NOT perfect and some have very clear imperfections as written by the description. Please read the description of the items, especially the prototypes to understand the quality and faults of the items. All of these units can be built to be used despite their imperfections. Note: All of these units are unable to be used with the EC PCB in their current form. A drill may be used on some of plates to create holes so they could be used with the EC PCB (some switches may need glue to hold down). Note 2: Additionally, all of these units were made using the same plate files, unfortunately, the key with a red X in the layout picture is unavailable with these plates, new plates would need to be cut if you desire to use that layout - contact me for plate files. Note 3: None of these plates support 3u stabs. Note 4: All of these units will be sent with the PCBs with the right side sticky space bar. Works perfectly fine otherwise. During the design the switch for the 3u space bar immediately on the right side was found to be slightly too close to the stab holes. This causes the space bar to "stick" or be slow on return. This can be fixed with a little bit of fiddling with the stabs. Prototype 1: Black and E-Beige This was the first prototype made for the Split60. It features the original design (afterwards the board was re-designed entirely). The board height did not account for the PCB so a 3d printed trim was required to build the board. The Black unit's 3d trim is cracked, the e-beige trim is in better condition. They both have marks on the units and feature a simple PVD brass weight. Both units come with both PC and Alu spacers. The aluminium spacers are quite tight to fit together, PC works well though. Comes with : Top, bottom housing and weights Plates (black unit comes with 1.5mm black aluminium, beige unit comes with 1.5mm brass) Spacers (both aluminium and polycarb) 4x Daughterboards 1 set of MX PCBs Optionally if you'd like the 3mm plates, I can ship those with the unit Optional Plate packs (I have 2 packs, but only 1 of each thickness in PVD): 1 set of 1.5mm POM plates 1 set of 3mm POM plates 1 set of 3mm beige aluminium plates 1.5mm black PVD brass or 3mm PVD brass Prototype 2: Rose Gold HHKB and Purple WK This was the first prototype of the re-design. This included the optional 3mm plates but they unfortunately were not designed correctly to fit with stabs. The Purple WK has been used for a few years and is pictured in the Split60 product page. The Rose gold was built by a streamer then disassembled. The purple is best suited to use the aluminium spacer (please see photos as the the purple spacer doesn't match the case). The gold is best suited to use the PC spacer. The opposite spacers were made for 3mm plates, completely fine to use, but will have a 1.5mm gap in the center. Modification would be required to use the 3mm plates. Both of these units have scratches and marks - some will come off with a clean, some are dings in the metal. The holes in the purple plate do not align with the EC holes due to a change in hole placement after this was done. Each unit comes with: Top, bottom housing and weights Plates Spacers (both aluminium and polycarb) 4x Daughterboards 1 set of MX PCBs Optionally if you'd like the 3mm plates, I can ship those with the unit Optional Extras (3mm plates need to be modified to use): 3mm black POM plate 1.5mm black POM plate 3mm brass plate Purple aluminium weights Prototype 3: Clear Polycarb WK and Purple HHKB These units were made by a new manufacturer, they were a lot cheaper, I learned that was for a reason, their quality was not good. This version of the board had the spacers joined to the base to create a more seamless look. These units also only have the option for 3mm plates (the stabiliser issue in prototype 2 was fixed in this version). The clear polycarb has a very unique look. The weights on these units need to be glued in as a m2 screw does not work on the weights on these units. The purple annodisation was damaged when I received it. Comes with: Top, bottom housing and weights Plates (Polycarb comes with brass, purple comes with purple aluminium) 4x Daughterboards 1 set of MX PCBs Both units will come with extra black POM plates and the purple unit will also come with an extra brass plate). Prototype 4: Beige HHKB This unit is very good. It features the same joined spacer and base to create a seamless design and also features a 3mm plate. The finish is very good on this unit apart from a few areas that were not machined properly. Comes with: Top, bottom housing and weights Plates (3mm aluminium) 4x Daughterboards 1 set of MX PCBs
