Build a tropical terrarium designed to support a thriving isopod colony! In this beginner-friendly workshop, our instructors will guide you through creating a planted ecosystem that provides the right environment for both your plants and your isopods. Choose your own glass vessel, tropical plants, hardscape, and decorative details, then learn how to bring everything together into a beautiful, living habitat. Along the way, we’ll introduce you to isopods, their role in a terrarium ecosystem, and what they need to thrive. We have over 30 species of isopods to choose from, so you’ll have plenty of options for finding your new little roommates. Your booking covers the $20 class fee, including studio time and instruction. Materials are purchased separately, and you decide how much you’d like to spend. Most projects fall between $100 and $300, though smaller and larger builds are possible. Isopods are also purchased separately. This is a great project for beginners, plant lovers, and curious critter enthusiasts of all ages. With the right setup, your finished terrarium can become a long-term home for your isopods. Care is relatively simple: occasional watering, a little supplemental food, and some leaf litter to keep your colony happy. Isopods help break down organic material, including decaying plant matter and food scraps, making them fascinating members of a miniature ecosystem. All workshops take place at our shop in historic downtown Renton on South 3rd Street, next to Boon Boona. Please do not bring materials from home.
