Hand-Embroidered Pouch by Sammya

A rectangular zip pouch covered with intricate embroidery in deep red, gold and black. Small floral stitches are arranged within a structured grid, forming alternating vertical bands across the surface. A burgundy tassel completes the design, which draws on traditional Yemeni stitches, motifs and colour palettes. This hand-embroidered pouch was made by Sammya, a government-school teacher who began her embroidery journey with YENOF in 2017. Over the years, embroidery became an important source of support for her family. During the height of the war, when government salaries were frequently delayed or irregular, it provided a reliable supplementary income that helped cover essential household expenses and support her daughter’s university education. Handmade and intricately detailed, this is a one-of-a-kind piece, with only one available.
