2023 Apricot BLACK Shiraz

This wine has been brooding in winemaker Alex Peel and viticulturalist Peter Ateyo’s head for a while now. We have always known that Apricot Block is an iconic sight, truly suited to Shiraz. It has for a long time been our fan favourite, always combining exotic fruits with earthy, mineral drive, making it a great cellaring option. In 2021, to celebrate the 40th year of Greenock Creek Wines, we let the winemakers loose to create this limited release wine – Apricot BLACK. They picked 7 rows on the very top of the Apricot hill block. Baren soil with broken ancient slate where the grapes struggle to grow past a “petite” size. There is a density to these grapes, almost black in appearance, in their taste and structure too. This will not be made every year, only in exceptional vintages. A true collectors wine!
