Issued M1964 Portuguese Lizard Field Shirt

Portuguese Lizard camouflage was first developed in the mid-1950s. It was heavily influenced by the French Lizard pattern of the era. Unlike other commonly-known Lizard patterns such as the Greek version, Portuguese Lizard's shapes are oriented vertically. This camouflage pattern served in combat during the Angolan War of Independence, which saw fighting between Portuguese troops and Angolan nationalists. Portuguese Lizard was used until the 1990s when it was replaced by a copy of US Woodland.
