Antiqued French Oak Flooring —The Olde Oak Collection: BLACKHEATH
Handcrafted antiqued French oak wood flooring in deep black charcoal with rustic grain and historic patina Antiqued French Oak Flooring in Blackheath is a wide plank, rustic French oak floor defined by soft charcoal-black with blue/graphite undertones, with visible grain & texture. It feels old, architectural, and English. Crafted from 100-year-old fallen French oak sourced from certified managed forests, each plank carries the natural character of slow-grown timber—knots, veins, and surface cracking—preserved and elevated through a proprietary 7–10 step oxidation process. This method works within the tannins of the oak to develop a matte patina and depth of color from the inside out, without the use of stains or surface-applied oils. The result is authentic antiqued French oak flooring with permanence, variation, and a quiet, natural elegance suited to luxury interiors. Available in solid and engineered French oak flooring, as well as custom stair treads and Parquet de Versailles patterns, Blackheath is produced at a substantial 2.2 cm thickness for architectural scale and long-term durability. These Antiqued French Oak Floors are not newly manufactured wood made to imitate age, nor reclaimed planks removed from historic structures. They are created from naturally aged oak that has matured over a century before being transformed by hand into finished flooring. Each plank reflects inherent variations in tone, grain pattern, knots, and open cracks—defining characteristics of true extra rustic French oak flooring. The wide plank format amplifies this movement and scale, often incorporating expressive knots and larger cracks that may remain open or be reinforced with hand-forged iron plates. These are not imperfections, but essential elements of authentic antiqued oak floors. Over time, the oxidation process allows the wood to continue developing patina, deepening in richness and complexity—making each installation a living surface that evolves within luxury interiors ranging from classic English and Belgian farmhouse to minimalist and modern spaces. The hand-applied metal plate reflects a traditional historic method of covering and stabilizing natural knots in old oak flooring, preserving the character and craftsmanship of centuries-old European floors. Available in: Solid, Engineered, Custom Stair Treads and Parquet de Versailles Pattern Thickness for both Solid and Engineered: 2.2 cm Grade: Extra Rustic Surface Texture: Weathered and distressed surface, rounded edges, saw marks, open cracks and knots unfilled.
