From Fleece to Skein: A tour of Flower Hill Fleeces & Fiber Mill
Sunday, October 4, 1:00 - 4:00 pm Have you ever wondered how that skein of yarn in your knitting or crochet project was made? Join us for a special visit to Flower Hill Fleeces & Fiber Mill for a behind-the-scenes look at how raw fleece is transformed into beautiful, small-batch yarn. We’ll follow fiber through the mill and explore each step of the process, from washing and picking to carding, drafting, spinning, plying, and finishing. You’ll see the specialized equipment at work, learn a little about different types of wool and fiber, and discover just how much goes into creating a skein of yarn. After the tour, we’ll slow things down with tea, coffee, and sweet treats and plenty of time to talk all things wool and yarn. And, of course, no visit to a fiber mill would be complete without a little yarn shopping! You’ll have an opportunity to browse and purchase Flower Hill yarns and spinning fiber, before heading home. Whether you’re a knitter, crocheter, spinner, or simply someone who loves yarn, come spend some time with us and see where the magic happens from sheep to skein. You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the Mill. Address and directions provided after registration. Tour will be capped at 15 people. Registration fees are non-refundable, store credit only if canceled with more than 48 hours notice. Sold out? Please email us at oakmontyarncollab@gmail.com to join the waitlist. We're hoping to make this a regular event, so stay tuned for more dates!
