[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”” css_params=””] Buddy – Birmingham area Adoption fee is: £350 Approx 6 years old Black & tan, long-haired tweenie (6kg) Male – not neutered Buddy is a lovely long-haired dachshund who is looking for a calm and understanding home where he can settle into a consistent routine. His current family love him dearly but cannot give him the ongoing time and training support he needs. Buddy was privately rescued from a difficult situation when he was around three years old. He has settled nicely with his current family and loves people but is a nervous boy who struggles to be on his own and will bark if left. His new family will need to be patient with him and help him gradually build confidence when being left and we will give behavioural support if needed. Buddy was reliably house-trained until a recent move to a flat without direct garden access, which has caused him to have accidents as he can no longer signal clearly when he needs to go outside. A secure garden is a must for Buddy and his new family should expect him to have accidents as he learns a reliable routine again. Outside the home, Buddy can be nervous around other dogs, particularly larger ones, and can bark. We feel he could potentially live with one calm, older resident dog, following careful introductions and a successful meet (any females must be spayed). He can guard high-value items such as food or bones from other dogs if they attempt to take them, so this would need to be managed appropriately. He has previously lived successfully with a cat and could potentially live with a dog-savvy cat following careful and gradual introductions. Buddy is good with children, we feel calm, dog-savvy children aged around 10+ would suit him best. Buddy is crate trained and happily sleeps in his crate at night and has no major known health concerns. Buddy needs a calm home with a secure garden, plenty of patience and someone willing to give him the time and consistency he needs to settle. In the right environment, we think this sweet boy will have the opportunity to really thrive.
