MEDIUM MASTERY: Introduction to Oil Painting with Portia Williams, Part 2 Continue Your Oil Painting Journey Take your next step in oil painting as you continue developing the skills and confidence introduced in Introduction to Oil Painting – Part 1. In this hands-on workshop, instructor Portia Williams will guide students through painting a landscape while exploring the unique properties of oil paint and how to use them to create rich color, smooth blending, and expressive brushwork. Students will spend more time painting as they build confidence with techniques used by oil painters every day. Topics may include: Understanding the working properties of oil paint Color mixing and creating harmonious palettes Building form with light and shadow Layering paint and developing depth Brush handling and paint application Edges, texture, and expressive brushwork Developing a painting from start to finish Whether you completed Part 1 or already have some basic experience with oils, this workshop provides additional guided practice to strengthen your skills while creating a finished painting.
