101.005, ‘Stealth’ Lange 1, Solid Caseback, Platinum

A ref. 101.005, the first-ever Lange 1 'Stealth' with a solid platinum caseback. The 101.005 was a part of the initial 1994 collection spearheaded by Walter Lange and Günter Blümlein. It would go on to form the foundations of the brand in the years following. Solid caseback production ceased in 1996, leaving Lange 1 examples from these first two years highly collected. This First Generation of Lange 1 also incorporates a smaller ‘Made in Germany’ and calibre L901.0 with ‘floating’ islands. It is a subtle, imposingly teutonic platinum Lange 1 and amongst the most desirable Lange 1 references ever made. Interestingly, this is one of very few examples from initial production to have been ordered with both a solid and exhibition sapphire caseback at special request of the original owner, with matching case numbers. Fewer than 100 examples of the 101.005 are conservatively estimated to have been made.
