How a blower purge desiccant dryer works Wet compressed air flows through the online tower, where activated alumina desiccant adsorbs water vapor and produces dry air at a -40°F dew point. The offline tower is regenerated using atmospheric air drawn by a regenerative blower and heated by a low-watt-density heater, driving moisture out of the desiccant. A brief dry-air cooling step finishes regeneration, keeping average compressed-air purge to roughly 0 to 2% over the cycle.
