Burundi - Gatukuza
Region Gatukuza Altitude 1700 MASL Variety Bourbon Process Washed Gatukuza is a coffee washing station in northern Burundi serving nearly 3,000 farmers, owned by Therence Nduwayezu. It is large by local standards, processing up to 35 containers of green coffee. The company supports farmers with fertiliser, minerals, and occasional loans, and has been UTZ certified since 2019 with help from Supremo. In the 2019 harvest, two of its batches ranked first and second in Burundi’s Cup of Excellence. In the cup is notes of tangerine, toffee and honey over a caramel base.
