TCS TechCell is a geocellular confinement system manufactured from HDPE strips which expand to form a strong honeycomb structure. Once installed and filled with a suitable material such as gravel, soil or concrete, the individual cells help confine the infill and prevent unwanted sideways movement. The result is a stable 3D reinforcement layer that can distribute loads, improve ground stability and help reduce erosion. It's suitable for everything from driveways and paths to car parks, slopes, tree root protection and retaining structures. How Does TechCell Work? When expanded, the TechCell panel creates a series of interconnected cells. These cells are filled with the specified aggregate, soil or concrete. Rather than allowing the material to spread or move freely under pressure, the cellular structure confines the infill within each section. This helps create a more stable reinforced layer and spreads loads across a wider area. Choose Your TechCell Depth TCS TechCell panels are available in four depths: 75mm TechCell Suitable for lighter-duty applications, pedestrian areas and smaller vehicle applications. 100mm TechCell A versatile choice for general driveways, paths and areas experiencing light traffic. 150mm TechCell Provides additional depth for car parks, moderate traffic and slope reinforcement applications. 200mm TechCell Designed for more demanding applications including heavy-duty loading, retaining structures and channel protection. Where Can TCS TechCell Be Used? One of the biggest advantages of a geocell system is its versatility. Slope Stabilisation & Erosion Control TechCell isn't limited to flat surfaces. The cellular structure can also be installed on slopes and embankments where it helps hold soil or aggregate in position. This makes it particularly useful for landscaping and construction projects where surface material could otherwise be affected by erosion or movement. Depending on the application, the cells can be filled with soil to encourage vegetation or aggregate for a more robust finish. Tree Root Protection & No-Dig Applications TechCell can also be used as part of a no-dig tree root protection system. By spreading loads across the cellular structure, the system can help reduce compaction of the ground surrounding established tree roots while maintaining permeability. TCS identifies TechCell as suitable for tree root protection applications in accordance with BS5837:2012 and APN 12 guidance. The appropriate infill depends on your project. Soil or topsoil – useful for slopes, embankments and applications where vegetation is required. Concrete – can be specified for demanding channel protection and other specialist applications.
