This phurba — the three-bladed ritual dagger of Vajrayana practice — is carved from red sandalwood (Pterocarpus santalinus; Skt. raktachandana), a rare and precious hardwood native to the Seshachalam hill ranges of Andhra Pradesh in southern India. Distinct from true sandalwood, it is valued for its deep red heartwood, considered highly auspicious and once reserved exclusively for sacred use. It comes with a stand.“The triple blade of the phurba, which is described as ‘a ferocious striker issuing from the jaws of a makara’, symbolises the overcoming or cutting through of the three root poisons of ignorance, desire, and hatred. The properties of its triangular shape, representing the element fire, symbolise wrathful activity.”— Robert Beer, The Encyclopedia of Tibetan Symbols and Motifs, p. 247Details Phurba length: 7.875 in (20 cm) Stand width: 2 in (5.1 cm) Material: Red sandalwood (Pterocarpus santalinus) Stand included Limited edition
