Now, you’ve heard talk many, many times about balance, and trying to balance spirit character with wood; well, this release isn’t that. It’s a full-on sherry monster, there’s no denying it. It is however, exactly the profile you want when you want that big sweet sherry beastie. There’s no tannic harshness, the sherry is clean and the slightly herbal Jura character does survive well. Amazingly it still emerges through all the sherry. It’s a load of fun. Andrew and Chris both burst out laughing when they drew the most recent cask samples, this stuff is black! The label, some of you may get this straight away, others may still not get it even after we explain it! Jura, famous for being an island with lots of deer, or for George Orwell writing 1984 there. For Andrew and Chris, the cool hip people at LBD, they associate Jura with the KLF, or more accurately, the K Foundation burning all their money, £1million, on the island in £50 notes. They’ve made our own currency for this label, the “fifty-hound” note. To celebrate the release they took a suitcase of fake money to Jura to burn it.
