Coco Curls — also called coconut husk curls — are sections of coconut husk from the Cocos nucifera (coconut palm) tree. Their fibrous texture makes them one a very functional botanical in the aquarium and bioactive enclosure hobbies, excelling as a microfauna hotspot, moisture retainer, and foraging surface. A great addition to blackwater and biotope aquascapes. Springtails and isopods love to colonize the curls. Preparation for Aquarium/Paludarium Use: Boil: Boil the pods for at least 15 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins. Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer if needed, changing the water daily, until they are fully waterlogged and the desired amount of tannin has been leached. Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, they are ready to be added to your setup.
