Laser Diode Illumination for Superior Performance The Gel-Bright™ Laser Diode Gel Illuminator features a novel laser diode (LD)-based illumination technology that offers comparable performance to UV transilluminators while avoiding the hazards of UV light. Traditional UV gel illuminators can harm skin, eyes, and DNA, while LED versions often give dim, high-background images. In partnership with Biotium, NovelBeamUSA (previously known as OMEC Medical) developed Gel-Bright™, a laser diode-based gel illuminator offering superior sensitivity and clarity. It outperforms UV for red dyes like GelRed® and EtBr and surpasses blue LEDs for green dyes. The gel image demonstrates the side-by-side band sensitivity.
