Ravenna Stud

Fifteen hundred years ago, the mosaicists of Ravenna set gold and blue glass into ceilings that still glow today. The Ravenna Stud shrinks the idea down to seven millimeters: four turquoise cabochons arranged in a tiny quatrefoil, set in solid 14k gold. Flanking the stones, trios of tiny gold beads — a nod to granulation, the ancient goldsmith's trick of building texture from nothing but spheres — catch the light the way mosaic tile catches candlelight. Worn along the lobe, it reads as a mosaic in miniature. At 7mm wide and 3.5mm tall, it's scaled for the middle of the ear — made for seconds and thirds, or a pop of blue next to your diamonds. A soft silicone back keeps it secure and comfortable enough to forget. Sold as a single — collect accordingly.
