Advanced Beginner Undies + Briefs Who wouldn’t love a pair of me-made undies or briefs? They’re quick, fun, and super satisfying to sew. They're also a great way to get more comfortable working with knits and stretch fabrics. In this advanced beginner class, so you'll need some sewing experience as we don't teach how to sew in this class. You’ll learn how to sew undies or briefs using knit fabric and elastic. This is a great class if you’ve been curious about sewing stretch fabrics, want to try a serger, or are ready to dip a toe into knits with a small, approachable project. We’ll provide the patterns, fabric, and elastic for class. You’ll choose your size and view, cut out your pattern and fabric, and then sew your pair from start to finish. The patterns go up to a 63" waist / 54" hip. You will likely have time to make more than 1 pair. Skills You'll Learn: How to sew with knits and stretch fabrics How to sew knits on a serger Tips for sewing knits at home on a regular sewing machine How to sew elastic How to sew a gusset How to finish a small stretch garment Who It’s For Advanced beginner sewists who already know how to use a sewing machine and are ready to try sewing with knits. You should feel comfortable threading and using a sewing machine independently, sewing basic seams, and following instructions. You will not be taught how to sew from scratch in this class, so please be sure you have basic sewing experience and have sewn within the last 2 years. Materials Provided: Sewing pattern, knit fabric, elastic, sewing machines, sergers, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins/clips, marking tools, measuring tape, irons, and instructor guidance throughout class. Needed: Nothing! All materials are included for this class with fabric options. Class Details Level: Advanced Beginner Max Class Size: 6 Duration: 1 session, 3 hours Class Breakdown In the first part of class, you’ll choose your size and view, cut out your pattern, fabric and get tips for sewing knits and practice and start on the project In the second class you'll focus on sewing up your undies or briefs using a sewing machine, also the serger, sew the gusset, attach elastic, and finish your undies or briefs.
