The melody came from Franck Langolff, during a creative recording session in Los Angeles, who handed it to me and asked me to take care of the lyrics as he wanted it to be American sounds. It was Kenny Oustin who took me to the very talented lyricist — Billy Steinberg, the man behind Cyndi Lauper's most iconic songs. We drove out to his house in the Palisades one afternoon in the Californian sunshine down Sunset Boulevard.. I remember walking into his office. Billy Steinberg was sitting in his leather office chair dressed in jeans and a blue silk shirt with an observant expression in his eyes. He took one look at me — he waved for me to sit down looking at me,he then proceeded to write the lyrics in ten minutes. I was there, impressed and flabbergasted, making a silent promise to myself: one day, I would be able/ will write a song lyric just as fast as that. He caught my essence from the very first hello and Billy Steinberg wrote me a brilliant lyric and I am forever grateful for that gift. A confession dressed in melody.
