November Open Level Handbuilding

You've got the basics down, now let's build on them. This open-level class is designed for students with prior experience who want to refine their technique, expand their skill set, and build confidence in their work. With guidance from expert instructor Brooklin Grantz, students will strengthen foundational skills while working toward individual goals. The course offers time and support to fine-tune basic techniques, explore more complex forms, work at a larger scale, combine building methods, and experiment with surface decoration and texture. This class is recommended for students who have taken one or more Beginning Handbuilding classes, or equivalent experience. This is a condensed month-long class which will meet for two hours each week for a total of four sessions, with open studio time every day for you to practice on your own Course fee includes: Firing for up to 12 pieces measuring no more than 12" in any direction, access to studio glazes, and free Studio Blend reclaim clay. Students who would like to work larger than 12" may do so, with additional firing charged at $0.04 per cubic inch. Thursdays 7:00 - 9:00pm | November 5 - December 3 *NO CLASS 11/26 Location Still Life Ceramics 1600 Altamont Avenue Richmond, VA 23230 Class Outline To get the most out of this class, you should feel comfortable with all of the steps and processes you learned in the four week Beginning Handbuilding course, including basic pinch, slab and coil and glaze application techniques. In addition to the weekly class meetings, we have open hours seven days a week for you to come in and work on your own. Open Level students should bring their own clay and tools. We have a clay shop at the studio where you can purchase clay. The course fee includes firing for up to 15 pieces and use of studio recycled clay. Our FAQ page contains more information. Policies By enrolling in a class or workshop, you are acknowledging that you have read and understand the safety instructions and liability waiver. Cancellations made 4 or more days before the start of the class will be refunded. For cancellations made fewer than 4 full days, but more than 24 hours before the start time, a 50% refund or 50% credit toward another class or workshop will be issued. We cannot provide refunds or credits for cancellations or rescheduling requests made fewer than 24 hours before class starts, if you miss class, or arrive too late to participate.
