Botanical Name: Cucumis sativus Lifecycle: Annual ‘Moneymaker’ is a vigorous and high yielding slicing Cucumber producing delicious green skinned fruit. The crisp, refreshing cucumbers have excellent flavour and are perfect for salads, sandwiches and summer platters. Fast maturing with good disease resistance, it is reliable and will produce a large amount of fruit over a long season. SOWING: Spring – Early Summer Transplant Cucumbers are best sown in spring through early summer. Sow seeds in trays of seed raising mix and germinate at temperatures of approx. 18°c – 30°c. 18°c - 30°c 5 - 12 days Transplant with care once seedlings have several true leaves and are 10+cm tall, to a sunny and well-drained position approx. 0.75m apart. 40cm - 60cm 55 - 80 days Tender TIPS: Plants will produce best results with regular watering. Try to avoid splashing water on the leaves to prevent garden fungal diseases, especially in warm weather. It is most productive in warm and dry conditions, but can tolerate most frost-free climates. Please note that it is tender to frosts. Cucumbers are fun to grow. Being trailing plants they can be grown as a sprawling vine along the ground, or trained up a trellis or framework where space is limited. Best picked when young and fresh, as when left on the vine too long they can develop some bitterness in flavour.
