Done by 8pm, so the night is still yours afterwards. This is not a hushed little painting workshop, it is a Paint Juicy night: big energy, bigger music, and a room laughing at its own canvases by the second hour. Live vocals run the full session, so the singalong has a real voice out front instead of a playlist and a hopeful nudge. Your host talks you through every brushstroke on the mic, and the pauses between layers are there on purpose, time to top up, take photos and find your voice again before the next chorus. Disco, classic rock and the throwbacks everyone secretly knows every word to. The 5pm start is the underrated part. You get the whole night done and still have a Saturday evening in front of you, whether that means dinner at the bistro or kicking on somewhere else entirely. This is the second of our two Mackay nights. If you were in on the 80s and 90s night on Friday, the era and the artwork are completely different, so you will not paint the same thing twice. Tonight's Artwork Prick My Interest A desert sky that runs from deep teal down through orange into a wall of yellow, with a thin crescent moon and a couple of stars up in the dark and a row of saguaro cacti standing in front of it like they are queuing for the bar. The big one in the middle is yours to make as tall and as wonky as you like. Vivid greens over warm brown hills, a few smaller cacti out the back for depth, and nothing in it that a first timer cannot handle. This is the one where every canvas in the room ends up slightly different, which is half the fun of it. We bring live vocals with us, working the 70s and 80s catalogue for the full session while you paint. Live singing, not a speaker in the corner. What time does it finish? Painting starts at 5pm and runs three hours, so brushes are down around 8pm. Plenty of Saturday left afterwards. Do I need painting experience? None at all. We guide every step from blank canvas to finished painting, and that desert sky is far more forgiving than it looks. Can I do both Mackay nights? Yes, and a few people will. Friday is the 80s and 90s with a sea turtle, Saturday is the 70s and 80s with the cactus desert. Different era, different canvas, book them separately. Is singing along optional? Technically yes. Realistically you will not resist. Expect call and response moments and choruses you forgot you knew every word to. Is this good for a hens or birthday group? Absolutely. Can I come alone? Yes, and plenty of people do. We seat you with other friendly humans so you are part of it from the first song. Can groups who book separately sit together? Yes.
