River Dee Platter

"May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back." The River Dee flows from the heights of the Cairngorms, through Braemar and Ballater, ending in Aberdeen, where it connects to the sea. Guests travelling to The Fife Arms will often find themselves following its flowing waters along the way. The quote delicately painted around the edge of the platter is a Celtic blessing, wishing one well on their journey, a fitting detail for a piece that depicts a bridge, a timeless symbol of passage and connection. Handmade by Sasha Compton, each ceramic platter is entirely unique with intentional imperfections and irregularities in the shape. The process to create these artworks is lengthy; once the clay is shaped, it is fired to bisque, then decorated by hand and fired again. This platter is not food or dishwasher safe.
