REW 2022 Scarpata Cabernet Franc

2022 Scarpata is Rennie Estate Winery's interpretation of a traditional Italian Ripasso wine, crafted from estate-grown Cabernet Franc sourced from the Heron Pond Vineyard on the Beamsville Bench. After the initial fermentation, the wine is passed over the skins from the winery's flagship "G" Assemblage appassimento wine, adding concentration, complexity, colour, tannin, and richness. The wine was then patiently matured in French oak before bottling in May 2026, resulting in a beautifully layered wine with dark cherry and blackberry fruit, notes of spice and cocoa, velvety tannins, and a long, lingering finish.
