Single Cultivar Okuhikari Sencha 50g This single cultivar sencha was grown in one of Kurihara Tea Farms newest fields. The sencha has been processed using a regular steaming method of around 40 -50 seconds however the delicate nature of the raw leaf has a produced a tea closer to a fukumushi, deep steamed tea. The Okuhikari cultivar was registered in 1987 and is a cross between Yabukita and Chinese cultivar, Shizu Cy225. This cultivar produces a better crop yield that its parent plant Yabukita however, it requires more care and attention to avoid damage from insects and some weather conditions. This late budding, Okuhikari sencha is lightly sweet and refreshing with medium body and low astringency. The tea has a delicate vegetal aroma is a very subtle hint of citrus.
