This listing is for a traditional underkimono (juban in Japanese) designed to be worn beneath a woman's kimono. A peacock in full display steals the show on this striking red and cream juban, its dramatically radiating feathers rendered in intricate kanoko (fawn spot) shibori and spreading across the back and sleeves. Bold floral blossoms gather below the peacock, pairing beauty and renewal with a bird traditionally associated with dignity, splendor, and good fortune. Underkimono make wonderful robes because they are cut shorter than outer kimono, so they do not have the extra length that is typically folded at the waist for traditional dressing.
