Circa 1970 Octagonal Step Cut Untreated Sapphire and Diamond Trilogy Ring, 18ct Yellow Gold and Platinum, size T or 9.5, 6.15g, with valuation

When we found this ring it stopped us in our tracks - the most amazing chunky vintage trilogy of sapphire and diamonds. But this ring needed vision - the sapphire was SO scratched it was almost matt. So out it came - and it has been re-polished ready for a new project - but this ring needed a bigger centre stone back. So into our trusty collection we dove - and this utterly magical unheated natural Australian sapphire was screaming out. So a new custom head in platinum (of course) was specially made for this trilogy - and TA-DA! she is perfect. This sapphire is what we love about natural stones (and particularly Australian sapphires) - it has the most fabulous colour shift as you run down the stone - from the dark navy sky to the vibrant yellow and green flashes. In this stone are also magical silk inclusions (a sign also to prove this stone is not heated) and they appear like delicate grey clouds running across the stone. Watching this stone move is mesmerising with where those bright flashes of green and yellow will appear. This ring is really classic - and we love: the mixed metals, the chunky use of precious metals, the amazing symbolism of the trilogy (your past, present and future), and the fact that this ring can be stacked. The stone has inclusions - there is a sparkly one near the diamond - close up in photos - and there are silk inclusions in the darker blue end - looks like fine grey clouds across a night sky in some lights. Head is new platinum, ring is vintage 18ct yellow gold, light surface wear to gold and diamonds. Care - As a general rule - jewellery should not be worn for strenuous tasks that may put pressure, chemicals and weight on them (think cleaning, gym, swimming/spa, carrying things).
