Silver and Wood Earrings by Lawrence Martin Kling

Lawrence Martin Kling (1921-2014) was a California studio jeweler known for his hand-wrought jewelry and sculptural, organic forms. Often his jewelry is accented with wood, as with these earrings. He opened his first store in 1947. Kling's jewelry often incorporates boomerang-like shapes and he was masterful at varying this form in numerous ways. In these earrings an ebony boomerang pierces a bent and tapered bar of silver. The photos show both the front and back of the earrings, although it is hard to tell which is which since both sides have equally fine finishes. Scroll down for more details
