Own a piece of chess history with the Official World Chess Championship Set — the only set officially endorsed by FIDE for use in World Chess Championship events. Crafted by renowned architect Daniel Weil of Pentagram, the pieces take inspiration from the proportions of classical Greek architecture and the timeless Staunton design. Weil worked closely with Magnus Carlsen and Vladimir Kramnik during the design process to ensure it met the highest standards. First introduced at the 2013 World Championship Candidates Tournament in London, these pieces have since become the gold standard for tournament play. This is the same set used in the 2018 Carlsen–Caruana match, as well as in the three prior World Chess Championship matches. The pieces are expertly made from high-quality boxwood, with the dark pieces undergoing a special ebonization process to mimic the appearance of ebony at a fraction of the cost. Each set of chessmen comes securely packed in a special storage box to keep the pieces safe. The board features light maple squares and dark rosewood squares, with each square measuring 50 x 50 mm. The underside is finished in natural wood, with the World Chess hexagon logo inlaid on both sides. This tournament-sized board is specifically designed to complement the Official World Chess Championship pieces, creating a stunning set that's perfect for both beginners and aspiring chess masters alike.
