Art Deco Rosary, 22k Rolled Gold Cross, Links and Chain, Hand Cut, Rock Crystal Beads, Hallmarked, Circa 1925 A beautiful and superb quality gold filled sterling silver and rock crystal rosary that was made in France around 1925. It is 22 carat rolled gold which is called 'Fix' here in France. This method involves pressing two sheets of gold onto a medal which is usually made of silver, copper or bronze. In this case it is silver. This method means there is a lot more gold on a rolled gold medal or brooch or cross than normal gold plating. In fact companies that buy gold will not by plated items but will buy rolled gold because of the high gold content. I would estimate that there is just over 1 gram of gold. Each bead is multi faceted and they are all rock crystal, also known as quartz crystal or gem crystal is mined from the earth. Rock crystal has more silicone dioxide than manmade crystal; it is heavier. They catch the light wonderfully and it sparkles as it moves. The silver of the shaft shines through each perfect bead and gives a stunning effect. The beads are 7mm long and 5mm wide. The stunning link medal measures 15mm by 8mm. The cross measures 3 x 1.7 centimetres. It is a full five decade rosary and is 44 cm in length. It is in absolutely brilliant condition with very little signs of wear. As you would expect with an item of this quality it will ship by courier as standard with full international tracking and this is reflected in the shipping cost.
