Biography Yoshimura Koukei (1769-1836) Painter of the late Edo period. Born in Kyoto. A disciple of Maruyama Okyo. His name was Koukei. Also known as Yozo and Mui. The pseudonym is Ranryo and Ryusen. He worked as a painter at Nishi Honganji Temple for many years. Although we do not know much about Koukei in his youth, it is thought that he learned painting from his father (Ranshu) at an early age and studied under Okyo at an early age. His disciples include his son, Yoshimura Koubun, and Komai Korei.
