A moment of connection that asks nothing in return. The bee understands this instinctively. It does not gather for itself alone. It participates in something larger, and in doing so, creates something none of its parts could make alone. The ancient Maya kept bees as sacred. The Melipona, a small stingless bee native to the Yucatán, was tended with reverence, understood as a bridge between the human and divine, its honey used in ceremony and healing. That relationship was not transactional. It was reciprocal. This painting carries that same understanding. The hive mind is not about losing yourself. It is about recognizing that your presence contributes to the whole. That care, offered freely and consistently, becomes something sweet and sustaining.
