Rwanda Ejo Heza | Washed
She's back — and this year's crop is the most vibrant yet. The Ejo Heza women's producer cooperative returns for what is now over 12 years of partnership — one of the longest and most meaningful relationships in our sourcing program. This year's washed Bourbon from Rwanda's Kopakama cooperative is perhaps the most explosive crop we've poured yet: juicy, dynamic, and brilliantly crisp, with notes of red grapefruit, peach, and cherry blossom that hit with the kind of punchy, fruit-forward energy that calls to mind the best Kenyan lots. Ejo Heza — "brighter tomorrow" in Kinyarwanda — is an all-women's producer subgroup within the larger Kopakama cooperative, founded after the Rwandan genocide with a mission of rebuilding community and creating lasting economic opportunity for women in the region. Year after year, their coffee speaks for itself.
