This pre-loved Kutani ware kōgō from Kosen Kiln is formed in the shape of a money pouch, a form long associated with abundance, protection of fortune, and auspicious flow of wealth. The body is rendered in a soft cream glaze, providing a calm, refined foundation for the decorative work, while gold accents and vibrant cloisonné-style enamel shippo patterns animate the surface with controlled brilliance. The shippo motif—interlocking circular geometry derived from Buddhist symbolism—represents continuity, harmony, and unbroken cycles of prosperity. Repeating across the pouch-like form, the pattern reinforces the sense of endless connection and sustained good fortune, as if wealth and blessing are not merely held, but continuously renewed. In spiritual tradition, the money pouch is closely associated with Daikokuten, deity of wealth and household prosperity, and Kangiten, the deity of bliss, union, and fulfilled desire.
