00 Wines Stardance Pinot Noir 2023

Fairly young estate, that has had a meteoric rise, based in Oregon's Willamette Valley founded in 2015 by Chris and Kathryn Hermann with the help of Chris' late father Richard Hermann, renowned plant geneticist. 00 being chosen as the estate's name to represent the cyclic nature of wine, the renewal of the soil, and their endless pursuit for excellency, representing their project's deep respect for their cool-climate and use of ancient Burgundian techniques, leaning heavily into Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The 00 Wines Stardance Pinot Noir is sourced from own-rooted vines in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, a site prized for its marine sedimentary soils and ability to produce Pinot Noir with both aromatic lift and structural depth. In most vintages, the fruit is blended into the estate’s VGR bottling; however, in exceptional years where the vineyard’s precision and terroir speak with unusual clarity, the wine is bottled on its own as Stardance. On the nose, Stardance opens with layered aromas of wild raspberry, crushed black cherry, and macerated strawberry, framed by notes of rose petal, forest floor, orange peel, and dried herbs. Subtle undertones of baking spice, sandalwood, and damp earth emerge with air, giving the wine a distinctly Burgundian sensibility. The palate is finely detailed and energetic, balancing vibrant red fruit with savory complexity and mineral tension. Silky tannins echo flavors from the nose, while introducing classic black tea, ripe pomegranate, and dark cherry through a long, persistent finish accented by hints of clove, sous-bois, and wet stone. Bright acidity and restrained oak allow the vineyard character to remain at the forefront, resulting in a Pinot Noir that is both elegant and age-worthy.
